Lions Club Partners with Manappuram Finance to Develop Batala Park

Chandigarh 01st March:- Lions Clubs International (LCI), an international NGO serving communities in over 200 countries worldwide, has inked an MoU with Manappuram Finance Ltd., a leading gold loan NBFC, to jointly develop public and municipal parks across India. Over the next one year, the project will develop 100 public and municipal parks in cities across India with children’s play equipment and exercising equipment for adults. The cost will be shared by Lions Clubs of India and Manappuram Finance Ltd.
The first park under the project at Batala, Punjab, was inaugurated on 18 February 2017 by Dr Naresh Aggarwal, the current International First Vice President of LCI.  Incidentally, the Batala born Dr. Naresh Aggarwal is due to take over as International President of LCI in July 2017, and will become only the third Indian to hold this prestigious office.
A large number of people including prominent citizens of Batala, Lion members and representatives of Manappuram Finance Ltd. were present at the inauguration. The initiative received much acclaim from the audience.
Lions Clubs International (LCI) is celebrating 100 years of existence. As part of the centennial celebrations, the Lion members in India have taken up several innovative programs for the overall betterment of quality of life of people at large.


Renault India Registers Monthly Sales of 11,198 Units

Chandigarh 01st March:- Renault India, one of the fastest growing automotive brands in India, registered a growth of 26.8%with monthly sales of 11,198 units in the month of February 2017 as against 8,834 units in the corresponding month last year.
Over the last few years, Renault has focused on establishing a strong base in India and has become one of the youngest and fastest growing automotive brands in India. Together with its product offensive strategy to drive volumes in India, Renault is also substantially increasing its sales and network reach in India and successfully achieved its target of 270 dealership network nationwide at the end of 2016.

AIHM organizes Chef Competition

Chandigarh 01st March:- Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, a premier Hotel Management Institute under Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, organized a Chef Competition in the Institute premises for the students. It was a befitting occasion for the spontaneous outburst of this high spiritedness in a wide range of talent and creativityParth Bhatia stood First in the competition and Prakhar Kapoor declared 1st Runner Up and
Kritika Pant declared 2nd Runner Up in the competition.              
The day started with the Chef Competition where the students had to prepare a three course menu comprising of a starter, a main course and a dessert. A total of nine students reached the final round to be judged by eminent chefs of prestigious hotels in Chandigarh. “Chef Tarundeep Singh, Sous Chef Hyatt Regency Chandigarh” and “Chef Bidesh Bishwash, Executive Chef Hometel Hotel , Chandigarh  judged the competitors on various aspects like taste, presentation, appearance etc. Mouth watering dishes like Chicken Pockets in Anchovy Sauce, Poached Pomfret in Hollandaise Sauce, Panseared Chicken with tossed vegetables and baked potatoes, Chicken Piccata with Zoodles and Pizza, Fried Fish  with Tzatziki , Kiwi and Mint Parfait , Magic Chocolate Balls and Chocolate Nougat Mousse were displayed by the participants. It was quite evident that the competitors had put in their best efforts and were praised for the output by the judges as well as the faculty members of the institute.
Mrs. Bharti Tyagi, Principal of the institute, said that she hope this year the Competition will end up touching the peaks of success and show its impact on the learning generation. She also added that such competitions are organized to encourage the talent and boost the morale of the young talent in the future chefs.



School of Public Health PGI is organizing National Course on Non Communicable Diseases

Chandigarh 01st March:- School of Public Health, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh and Center for Community Medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi is organizing a 3rd National Course on Public Health Approaches to Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) from 2nd-7th March, 2017 at PGIMER, Chandigarh. This will be the 3rdedition of this much reputed course which was started in 2015 in PGIMER. World NCD Federation (WNF), IUATLD, ICMR, IAPSM and NINE, PGIMER are the partners of the course. Around 50 participants (State/District Program Managers, Faculty, Postgraduate students from Medical Colleges and Civil Society) from 17 states of India, including north-eastern and southern states have registered for the course. The focus of the course will be to enable participants to use public health approaches such as policies, prevention, surveillance and management guidelines for NCD prevention and control in their respective states and countries.
Key objectives of the course are to explain the epidemiologic, socio-economic and demographic transitions fueling the rise in chronic, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and discuss the evidence-base of different public health interventions for NCDs. Candidates will also be apprised about the global initiatives in the area of NCD prevention and control. They will be able to identify and implement strategies for health system strengthening including workforce issues.
Key sessions include Chronic disease burden, determinants and Global/National initiatives, population and individual level evidence based public health interventions, health system strengthening and surveillance for NCD’s. Additionally participants will be given orientation towards national NCD programs, road maps and challenges for integration within different NCD areas and addressing the comorbidity with communicable diseases. All participants will be guided to prepare and implement an operational research project to be undertaken in their states.
The coursework so far has been successful to strengthen the capacity for monitoring the progress, research and evaluating NCD prevention and control policies and programmes in the country and will keep on doing so with its consequent editions. Key resource persons for the course work include National and international experts from Chandigarh (PGIMER/GMCH-32), AIIMS, WHO, TISS, IUALTD, ICMR/DHR, NIMHANS, NHSRC, WLF.
Expected outcomes of this course include effective implementation of National NCD Programs by Program Managers, Improved teaching of NCDs in the medical colleges by junior faculty, Increase in Research Capacity on NCDs among junior faculty and Postgraduate students.

Gen-X Verdict For Choosing Ideal Partner

Chandigarh 01st March:- Bharat Matrimony, the largest and the most trusted matrimony brand recently conducted a social media study to find out the most important criteria that were sought out by single men and women while searching for their life partner and chose a celebrity that matched their desired quality.
The study witnessed a whopping 22 million impressions and 1500 responses within two hours from its launch. With Hrithik Roshan leading in looks (70%) followed by Shah Rukh Khan for his honesty (55%), the participants were asked to select from different qualities like hard-work, respect and understanding.
The study that comprised of 62.7% of females revealed male celebrities taking the lead with Amitabh Bachchan as a favorite among all and Drashti Dhami taking the lead among the female celebrities for her good looks.
Launching the survey results, Kaushik Tiwari, Head Marketing at Matrimony.com said that we wanted to find out which qualities users look for when choosing a life partner and which of their favorite celebs matched these qualities. The social campaign offered a platform for fans to express the opinions about the desired qualities of their favorite celebrities and the results were interesting.

A Dwarf Puts Trideviyaan in a Fix

Chandigarh 01st March:-Sony SAB’s Trideviyaan, Dhanu (Aishwarya Sakhuja), Tanu (Samaira Rao) and Manu (Shalini Sahuta) who have been hiding their secret identity from the society will be hoaxed by a Dwarf (K. K Goswami) who steals a specially designed missile made by a scientist for the Indian Army. Trideviyaan which airs on Sony SAB at 9.30 pm from Monday to Friday, is yet to face another challenge in the upcoming track.
Shaurya and Trideviyaan both are on the same mission to catch a dwarf who stole a special missile. Tracking the missile’s location, Trideviyaan reach to the dwarf’s location but the shrewd dwarf dodges them at every moment with his special skills to go from one direction to another within seconds. With great struggle, Trideviyaan succeed in catching the dwarf and help Shaurya in arresting him. Later, when Shaurya organizes a press conference, he realizes that the dwarf who he had arrested doesn’t have the real missile. The one with specially designed real missile is still at a run. He faces humiliation in the press conference. Astonished and bemused with the entire scenario, Trideviyaan try to analyze how the dwarf was at the same location of the missile and why was he chasing them when he was not the convict.
Commenting on this new challenge, Aishwarya Sakhuja a.k.a Dhanu said that this is a very interesting track where Trideviyaan catches the wrong thief. The role is played by K.K Goswami who is a very good actor and a comedian. He has a very peculiar funny trait. Thus we could easily manage our comedy timing with him. It was fun to shoot with him.
