SulaFest 2017 Announces ‘Rise and Shine’ Contest

Chandigarh 31st December:- Celebrating a decade in 2017, SulaFest is leaving no stone unturned to make the occasion extra special. The country’s most awaited gourmet, wine, drinks, music, fashion and more… festival is announcing the ‘SulaFest Rise and Shine Contest’–a contest that offers promising Indian artists a chance to be a part of The Line-up of the Year.
Known for bringing fresh artists from across the globe including India-featuring a wide range of genres, SulaFest’s contest is open to all forms of music, be it rock, techno, reggae, ska, indie, folk, electronic or jazz. 
The amazing line-up this year includes popular bands from around the world, ranging from the UK, Italy, Israel, Argentina, India, Bosnia, Germany and more! Some of these include Grammy nominated as well as world festival favorites such as Dubioza Kolektiv, Jan Blomqvist and Band, Loco and Jam, Afro Celt Sound System, The Raghu Dixit Project, Swing rowers, Dhruv Voyage, The Scavengers, Indian Ocean, Nucleya and many, many more.
What’s even more exciting is that the two winning acts will not only get an opportunity to perform alongside these heavyweights but will also receive free studio time at Mumbai’s famed Cotton Press Studio which has seen sessions with some of the country’s biggest artists.
To participate, all artists and/or bands must be 18 years above and submit a live performance video, of one of their original compositions, between 60 to 180 seconds in length. For more details on the rules to qualify for participation, visit www.sulawines.com/riseandshine.
Registrations will close on January 10th, 2017. All video entries will then be shortlisted by the SulaFest jury panel before being uploaded to Sula Vineyards’ Facebook page for online voting from January 13th to January 15th.

Director PGI Honors Employees on Their Retirement

Chandigarh 31st December:- Prof. Subash Varma, Acting Director PGI honored officers and officials on their superannuation today by presenting mementoes to them.  Amitabh Avasthi, DDA, Dr. Ashok Kumar Acting M.S and P.S Saini, Superintendent Hospital Engineering, handed over beneficiary cheques comprising GPF, gratuity and group insurance. Respective heads of departments wished them well in life by presenting bouquets to them.

School of Public Health PGI Conduct “Workshop on Basic Epidemiology and Biostatistics”

Chandigarh 31st December:- The School of Public Health conducted ten day “Workshop on Basic Epidemiology and Biostatistics” from 22nd December 2016 to 31st December 2016. This was the 5th in the series of workshops being conducted by School of Public Health on Epidemiology and Biostatistics. The objectives of the workshop were to develop skills in the field of medical research and public health to plan a study, to choose an appropriate study design and also to present the study results and interpret them in a scientific manner.
The resource persons were Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. P.V.M. Lakshmi, Dr.Ravindra Khaiwal, Dr. Mona Duggal, Dr. Shankar Prinja, School of Public Health, PGI, Chandigarh. Participants came from various institutes across the country including Himachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Delhi and Chandigarh. The participants gave a positive feedback. The participants said the workshop was ‘comprehensive and clear’ and the practical sessions were ‘interesting and interactive’. They appreciated learning how to work on a new software and found Epi Info to be a  ‘great tool for data collection, compilation and analysis’. The participants gained a lot of knowledge and skills in basics of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
